Meet Jamie Martin

Jamie Martin was born in North Vancouver (BC, Canada), raised in the "Sea To Sky Corridor" and now resides in Squamish (BC, Canada). Jamie began his education in residential design at Vancouver Community College (Vancouver, BC), where he completed the following courses; Architectural / Structural Drafting, Graphics Illustration 1 and Graphics Illustration 2. He furthered his education at BCIT - British Columbia Institute of Technology (Burnaby, BC) and received certificates for the following courses; CAD - Computer Aided Design 1 and CAD - Computer Aided  Design 2.

Jamie started his professional career working for the GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District). He then traveled and explored Australia; an experience he speaks of highly to this day. Upon his return he was hired by Leo Lund and Associates Architects, where he worked for the next fifteen years. He gained immense knowledge through his mentors and was eventually able to begin his own business in residential design.  Graph-Tech Designs Ltd. opened it’s doors and Jamie began his reputable designs of unique custom homes.

Although the name of the company has changed  to Jamie A. Martin Designs Ltd., it’s commitment to unique custom home designs and superior client service has remained. In addition, Jamie has been asked to be the “Design Co-ordinator” for both Britannia Beach (BC, Canada), Thunderbird Creek In The Highlands (Squamish, BC, Canada), and Skyridge (Squamish, BC, Canada) which he accepted with honor.

Jamie has positively enjoyed his 37 years in the business and loves the “eco friendly” direction residential design practices are heading. Jamie A. Martin Design Ltd.’s Howard Drive “Eco Rain Forest Retreat” (Tofino, BC) residential design project, received the Georgie Awards 2010 - “Best Single Family Detached Home; under 2,000 sq. ft.”, National SAM Awards 2010 /Canadian Home Builders Association - “New Home Awards - Custom Homes; Single Detached Home Under 2,500 sq. ft.”, LEED Canada 2010 - “Platinum Certification” and Built Green BC 2010 - “Highest Rated Built Green Award”.

When Jamie isn’t passionately designing homes, you can find him with his family (wife and two daughters), outdoors (kiteboarding, windsurfing, biking, skiing or snowboarding) or socializing with friends. Jamie is also largely involved with community volunteering, he was the previous “President”, “VIce President” and now  a “Member at Large” of the Windsport Society and he is actively involved with Squamish Waterfront Development and has been associated with the Squamish Trails Society.

Jamie has a real passion for architecture and he now cherishes every moment working along side his daughters who are now both working in the same proffesion.
